  • 1. FAST & FURIOUS 6:

Timing  is everything … with Paul Walker’s death still a raw, haunting reality, his final F & F movie hits DVD.  At the end of the last movie, Dom’s (Vin Diesel) crew was wealthy beyond belief with $100 million split between them, and they were scattered all over the world.  When the FBI’s Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) shows up, it’s with an offer they can’t refuse … full pardons if they pull off the proposed deal, so they can once again return home to the States.  There’s just one way to stop them … match them gear for gear on the street … in London.  Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, and Michelle Rodriguez co-star. Rated 18A.

  • 2. DESPICABLE ME 2:

Steve Carrell is back as the voice of Gru, a villain in the first of these animated features, whose heart was melted by a trio of little girls, all sisters.  Now he is being recruited by the Anti-Villain League to put a stop to the world-domination moves of Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand) and El Macho (voice of Benjamin Bratt)  … Gru is hampered a little by his new love interest Lucy (Kristin Wiig) but is bent on saving the world for all living things … and little kids.  This one is great fun!!  Rated PG.

  • 3. THE ULTIMATE LIFE:

Michael Landon, Jr. directed this unusual, but well-cast story of a young man who inherits billions, but doesn’t understand until it’s almost too late that this is a curse and not a blessing.  Everybody is after him, family lawsuits, a shadowy group with outrageous claims, and even those closest to him.  James Garner and Peter Fonda star, along with former Miss America Lee Meriwether (and Barnaby Jones co-star) Rated 14A.

  • 4A. RED DOG (2011):

An Australian movie with a great backstory, Josh Lucas stars in this true story of a German Shepherd-like breed which roamed the Australian Outback looking for its long-lost master. If you remember “The Littlest Hobo” from Canadian television in the ‘70s, you’ll get the idea … the dog wanders in and out of the lives of many people, all of whom are touched in one way or another.  Rated PG

    4B. The A-Team (2010)

Joe Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces, The Blacklist) directs a great cast in this remake of the ‘80s TV series.  Lots of action as Hannibal (Liam Neeson), Face (Bradley Cooper), and B.A. Baracus (Quentin Rampage Jackson) try to get themselves out of big trouble in an origins tale telling the story of how The A-Team was imprisoned for a crime they didn’t commit.  Great special effects, excellent kick-start to a new franchise!  Rated 14A.

EASY RIDER (1969):

The late Dennis Hopper co-wrote (along with Peter Fonda) and starred in what is surely the classic road picture as two guys hit the roads of American on their choppers.  Watch for a supporting role by music producer Phil Spector.
