  • PARKER

Jason Statham in and action-adventure role

  • HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS

They were never like this in the fairy tale

  • MOVIE 43

An unbelievably lewd movie from the Farrelly Brothers.

  • 1. END OF WATCH:

Writer/director David Ayer (Training Day, SWAT) knows South Central LA better than most filmmakers and he proves it again with this uniformed cop film shot documentary-style. Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena are partners working the tough streets populated by tough men and women – gang-bangers, pimps, dealers, and hookers. If you recall the Denzel Washington movie Training Day, you’ll know what to expect. Rough language, rough situations, a level or realism that is frightening … and for these guys, just another day at the office. Good film, but harsh! Rated 18A.

  • 2. NATURE CALLS:

Todd Rohal wrote and directed this dreadful attempt at comedy that falls flat in every scene. Patton Oswalt (The Drew Carey Show) and Johnny Knoxville (Jackass) are the stars in this awful mess about one character’s kidnapping of another’s adopted son for a camping trip. Made very little money in its theatrical release, way too many bathroom jokes, and a story that goes nowhere. Couldn’t expect more from a writer/director whose major credits include a handful of short films such as “Hillbilly Robot” and “Knuckleface Jones.” Rated 18A.

  • 3. HANSEL & GRETEL:

You’ll see some promotion for “Hansel and Gretel,” soon, starring Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Famke Janssen (Taken, Taken 2) in which the fairy tale comes to life in a diabolical way. This release IS NOT that movie … this one is direct-to-DVD and it stars Boo Boo Stewart (who?) in a quick marketing rip-off of the big budget, big-screen movie that will soon be in theatres. The packaging and promotion are not that subtle, trying to make ou think that, wow, is this one on DVD already? Well, it always was! Not worth it! Rated 14A.

  • END OF WATCH:

Despite the gritty realism here, and the you’ll-never-know-what-they’re-going-to-do-next story line, this is a very solid film. Well-acted, great script … be prepared to she a tear or two though!

ERNEST GOES TO CAMP (1987):

The late Jim Varney in what is probably his best PG-rated family film … compared to “Nature Calls,” it’s a masterpiece!

  • BROKEN CITY

Mark Wahlberg is great as always up against Russell Crowe

  • THE LAST STAND

Arnold does a lot of shooting and breaks a few heads – fine as long as you know what you’re getting

  • MAMA

Very chilling horror story about two children lost in the woods … for five years!
