1. BLUE VALENTINE:
Well-acted, critically acclaimed, but a very depressing story that will tear your heart out as we follow the lives of a young couple Dean and Cindy (Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams) as the court, marry, have a child, and struggle with their respective pasts – he from a broken home, she from a dysfunctional family. He has no ambition beyond being a house painter, she fights her own demons. Yikes! Rated 18A.

2. NO STRINGS ATTACHED:
Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman play a couple interested in a strictly physical relationship, nothing else … but as the story spins out, he has trouble doing just that and wants a little more. And what she wants is a big surprise. This is supposed to be a comedy, but it’s not funny, and it’s supposed offer up charismatic stars, but they really don’t click. Nudity and lots of sex … in the beginning at least. Not a very engaging film. Rated 14A.

3. JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER:
A surprisingly good film that looks at Bieber in the weeks leading up to his opening at Madison Square Garden in New York. We see him on the streets of his London, Ontario home, and we see him performing with Jaden Smith, son of Will and Jada Pinkett. Great performances, and we see a really terrific young man … and talented too! Rated G.

TAKERS:
Despite some serious plot holes, this is a pretty good thriller. Will you see the ending coming? Probably!

THOR
Excellent origins story of the Marvel Comics character who leaves Asgard to come to earth and protect humans. Good special effects and a substantial story, along with one of the best villain creatures I have ever seen.

SOMETHING BORROWED
A good date movie in which Kate Hudson again shows why she’s Goldie Hawn’s daughter!
