  • 1. THE EXPENDABLES:

What’s not to love about this great film that stars Sylvester Stallone (he wrote and directed) and Jason Statham (The Transporter), Jet Li, and Dolph Ludgren as a team of mercenaries who have to get good people out of a bad situation in a tropical paradise.  A lot of stuff blows up, the action is relentless, and it’s just a great thrill-ride! Rated 14A.

  • 2. EAT PRAY LOVE:

Well, some cynics have called this Julia Roberts vehicle based on the best-selling book, “Star, Snooze, Snore.”  Not that bad for sure, but in the early going it’s a bit of a bore with too much exposition, too much talk, but once Julia’s character gets off on her globe-trotting adventures heading to Rome, India, and Bali, things pick up dramatically.  Roberts is superb, the location shooting is great.    Rated PG.

  • 3. THE WINNING SEASON:

Julia Robert’s niece Emma Roberts stars opposite Sam Rockwell, in a sports story about a girls’ high school. Basketball team and the adult misfit that is hired to coach them.  Who actually teaches whom is the question.  This one had limited theatrical release, but it’s a pretty good rental. Rated PG.

  • 4. THE EXPENDABLES:

Watch for a couple of great cameos early on from Arnold Schwarzenegger and a mystery guest (Bruce Willis). Stallone broke his neck in a fight scene with Stone Cold Steve Austin.  Tough shoot!!

FIRST BLOOD (1982):

The first Rambo movie, filmed in BC, and one that Stallone hated so much that he tried to buy the entire film and its rights so he could destroy it before it saw the light of day.  Good thing he didn’t!

  • HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, PART 1

Potter fans love this one … non-fans … “will this never end?”

  • THE NEXT THREE DAYS

Excellent action thriller with Russell Crowe and Naomi Watts.
