  • SEX AND THE CITY 2

They are all back, including Mr. Big, and somehow end up in the desert, dressed to the nines
  • PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME

Big budget Jerry Brukheimer film starring Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role … like Pirates of the Caribbean, but with sand, not sea.
  • 1. ALICE IN WONDERLAND:

It’s not exactly the Disney version, this somewhat dark, and just a little bit spooky take on Lewis Carroll’s well-known story.  Johnny Depp is the Mad Hatter, we have an exceptional Queen of Hearts played by Helena Bonham Carter, and the Cheshire Cat is just superb.  Alice is grown up now, and takes another trip down the rabbit hole, this time creating far more chaos than before.  I liked it a lot … very young kids might find some scenes disturbing … after all, it’s Tim Burton! Rated PG.

  • 2. THE WOLFMAN:

Benicio Del Toro takes over the Lon Chaney, Jr.  role in this remake of the 1941 original which is often a frame-by-frame duplicate.  Other than some updated special effects, there really isn’t much to differentiate this from the first one, leading me to wonder why they bothered with the remake at all.  Nothing wrong with it, but it’s badly dated even though it’s a new movie. Rated 14A.

  • 3. SMALL TOWN SATURDAY NIGHT:

This relationship romance didn’t make it into theatres, and there’s not much to recommend it, other than the fact that this little indie production was made before Chris Pine hit it big as the new Captain Kirk in Star Trek … and now everyone wants to see him as a country musician headed for Nashville – and trouble with his girl.  Rated 14A.

  • 4. ALICE IN WONDERLAND:

Lindsay Lohan lobbied for the role of Alice before it went to unknown Mia Wasikowska

THE WOLFMAN  (1941):

This is an interesting comparison to the newer version, and despite its age, actually looks fresher than the remake.

  • SHREK FOREVER AFTER

The last of the Shrek movies, this one’s in 3D and IMAX and has a lot more story and a lot less pop culture than we have seen before.
  • MACGRUBER

A parody of MacGyver from and SNL writer/actor that also stars a pudgy Val Kilmer.
