  • SAW VI

Did I mention that Halloween is coming?  More of the same from Lions Gate
  • AMELIA

Hilary Swank and Richard Gere in a biopic of the famed aviatrix.
  • ASTROBOY

Freddie Highmore and Nicolas Cage provide the voices for what started as a Japanese comic book in 1951.
  • 1. TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN:

All the usual suspects are back including Sam (Shia LaBoeuf) and Megan Fox (Mikaela), along with the Deceptacons and the Autobots, the bad robots and the good ones respectively.  The story picks up where the last one left off, so if you can’t remember what Optimus Prime and Megatron were up to, you may want to rent the previous film.  Too much goes on here – too much action, too many threads to follow, but it’s still a blast!  Rated PG.

  • 2. DEAD SNOW:

Halloween is coming … this one didn’t make it into theatres in North America.  It’s a Norwegian/Swedish co-production and the cutline says it all:  while on a ski vacation, a group of med students confront the most frightening menace of all:  Nazi zombies.  Need I say more? Rated 14A.

  • 3. THE CHILDREN:

Did I mention that Halloween was coming?  This one also didn’t make it into theatres.  On a family vacation at Christmas time, a mutated virus strikes a family, affecting the children first, and turning them into flesh-crazed zombies.  You  brought them into the world, but they are going to take you out.  Actually not bad if you like this kind of thing!  Rated 14A.

  • 4. TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN:

Shia LaBoeuf injured his hand in a car accident during the shoot … the injury had to be written in to explain the cast on his hand and wrist.  And despite the apparent dexterity that Megan Fox has with motorcycles on screen, she can’t ride one at all.

DEATH WISH (1974):

Charles Bronson is a man who loses his family to thugs, and takes the law into his own hands as he seeks revenge that the courts cannot provide.  Notable too as it’s Jeff Goldblum’s first film appearance!

  • LAW ABIDING CITIZEN

Gerard Butler stars and produces this outstanding revenge movie.  Unpredictable and outstanding.
  • STEPFATHER

A little like Disturbia, this one tells the tale of a very bad man who wants to marry into a family
  • WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

Strictly for kids, maybe scary for the very young
  • PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

An $11,000 budget – and it shows!
