1. GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST:
Matthew MacConaughey is a fashion photographer who goes through women like a long distance runner goes through bottled water … once, twice, and discard! He breaks up with more than one at a time via conference call. Done in the style of “A Christmas Carol,” he is visited by three ghosts, include that of his philandering uncle (Michael Douglas) and … eventually mends his ways. Jennifer Garner co-stars in this rather weak rom-com. Rated PG.
2. OBSERVE AND REPORT:
Another mean-spirited effort from Seth Rogan who is a mall cop this time – but not a funny one like Kevin James in “Mall Cop”- a mean rather ugly one whose humour has the bite of a rabid dog. On the trail of a mall flasher, the funny stuff never really gets off the ground. Rated 18A.
3. EASY VIRTUE:
This one is a British drawing room and dance-floor romp with a Noel Coward kind of look – understandable since he wrote the play on which this is based. Stuck between the Roaring 20s and the Swinging 30s, it’s a love story between an American woman and her British suitor. Colin Firth is the handsome man, Jessica Biel is the lady. Great costumes! Rated PG.

BRIEF ENCOUNTER (1945):
A Noel Coward story with Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson about a meeting in a train station between a man and woman … that may lead to her infidelity. David Lean (A Passage to India) directed, and had an Oscar nomination for this film that was shot during WWII in London – in between air raids. |

JENNIFER’S BODY
Megan Fox is very, very evil in this made-in-BC horror flick.
-
LOVE HAPPENS
Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart don’t get the job done – it’s supposed to be a rom-com, but it’s pretty maudlin.
