  • 1. HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU:

Based on the best-selling novel, this romantic comedy didn’t work for me, I guess because I was just not into it.  Good cast that includes Scarlett Johannssen, Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck, and Harry Connick, Jr.  The problem I had with it, is that there are just so many ways you can say that he’s just not that into you … and then it becomes most redundant. Rated PG.

  • 2. DEFIANCE:

Excellent based-on-fact but little-known WWII story about Lithuanian freedom fighters who save and sequester many Jewish individuals and families deep in the forest for many months, avoiding the Nazis and keeping everyone safe.  Excellent performances by Liev Schreiber and Daniel Craig as the Bielski brothers, simple farmers who went in the face of big odds by taking on the heavily armed Germans.  Rated 14A

  • 3. REVOLUTIONARY ROAD:

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are a couple working through their living of the American dream in the 1950s in what is a truly bleak and depressing relationship character study.  Things don’t really end well for anyone here.  Critically acclaimed, but shunned by audiences because of its bleak outcome, it’s for fans of the actors only.  Rated 14A.

  • 4. DEFIANCE:

Filmed on location just a few clicks away from where the actual events occurred, this film has an authentic feel, and great performances by all.
SHINDLER’S LIST (1993):
It’s been 16 years since Steven Speilberg’s gripping true story about a factory owner who saves hundreds of Jews from the Nazis cleaned up at the Oscars.  Still a gripping drama that’s as fresh today as it was when it first appeared.
  • DRAG ME TO HELL

I like a good horror-chiller, and this is one with stuff that will make your skin crawl … but in a good way!
  • UP

The voice of Ed Asner is the focus of this family animated film from Disney Pixar which is even more entertaining in 3D if you can find it!
