  • Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Harrison Ford is back, Karen Allen too, but no Sean Connery as Indie’s dad.
  • 1 .NATIONAL TREASURE 2: BOOK OF SECRETS:

Nicolas Cage is back and so is the entire family as they track down the truth about John Wilkes Booth, who has suddenly been tied to the Ben Gates family. Lots of swashbuckling adventure – one criticism only for this popcorn movie – there are times when you’ll feel like you’re watching the first National Treasure movie, or maybe even an Indiana Jones film as the sets and action seem so similar. Good fun though. Rated PG.

  • 2. STRANGE WILDERNESS:

Rarely do I categorize a movie as “just stupid”, but here we go. Steve Zahn, who really ought to know better, along with Justin Long, Harry Hamelin, and even Ernest Borgnine, obviously did this one just for the money. An ailing wildlife TV show modelled after Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, decides to save itself by going after Bigfoot. Childish cheap gags, bathroom humour, and nothing really laughable, other than the fact that this stinker got made in the first place, abound. Rated 18A.

  • 3. DIARY OF THE DEAD:

George Romero (Night of the Living Dead) gets on the Blair Witch/Cloverfield bandwagon with a group of film students in the woods who realize that the dead are coming back to life. Since they are film students, they begin recording everything they see, and that’s the movie. Rated 18A.

  • Rick´s Pick: National Treasure 2:

Watch the underground scene near the end … Nicolas Cage, as hero Ben Gates, is dealing with bad guy Mitch, played by Ed Harris. He says, “C’mon Ed” … instead of “Mitch”, using the actor’s real name. No one caught it until after the film’s release.

IT’S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD (1963):
Definitely the funniest movie of the early 60s, this one is a great treasure hunt that stars just about everyone from Milton Berle to Jimmy Durante to Jonathan Winters. Funny people, funny premise. A little dated, but still a hoot!
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Excellent follow-up to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Great special effects, good storyline, fine performances as the Pevensie kids fight the evil king.
